Will Ferrell, Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith plan charity ‘drum-off’

Mark your calendars: Thursday, May 22 will be the date for an epic musical battle between a rocker and a comedian who are constantly mistaken for one another.

Will Ferrell, former “SNL” funnyman, and Chad Smith, drummer for the Red Hot Chili Peppers have spent months traded good-natured jabs at one another and now the time has finally come for a showdown on “The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon.”

Fallon announced plans for a drum-off on his show last night.

Smith tells Rolling Stone that he’s “ready to take him (Ferrell) down,” while the comedian admitted that there is “no amount of practice that would help me become a good drummer.”

The drum-off will also help raise funds for charities Cancer for College and Little Kids Rock, through the sale of specially designed T-shirts and cowbells commemorating the drum-off. The T-shirt and cowbell are one sale now through the Cancer for College website.
