Contractors will soon begin work on renovating the basement of the Tompkins County Courthouse.

It’s part of work mandated by the State Courts System.

Administrator Joe Mareane says the $300,000 cost will be completely reimbursed by New York State.

He says hopefully this will be one of the last projects the State will require them to do.

Renovations will include the addition of clerk offices, holding cells and meeting space.
