Ithaca Police: One person shot, suspect still at large

One person was shot after a confrontation in Ithaca Monday night.

It happened just after 7:30 p.m. near Plain Street and Cleveland Avenue.

An Ithaca city official initially told WHCU that one person was injured, and that a suspect was taken into custody.

However, just before 9 a.m., police have not confirmed that the suspect, Clifton McBean, is in custody, and say he should be considered armed and dangerous.

Police say the victim and McBean knew each other. The victim sustained two gunshot wounds, and was taken to a regional trauma center for treatment.
