Time Warner Cable is working to restore service after an outage cut Internet and on-demand cable service to customers across the United States.

Time Warner spokesman Rich Ruggiero says the outage started at about 4:30 a.m. ¬†Wednesday. He says an issue with Time Warner’s Internet backbone created the disruption.

Regular cable TV service was not affected.

Ruggiero says service was largely restored by 6 a.m., although internet service at WHCU’s studios on Hanshaw Road in the town of Dryden did not return until about an hour later.

Ruggiero did not know how many customers lost service.
