I-81 over Preble Road reduced to one lane

I-81 over Preble Road reduced to one lane

Drivers traveling southbound on I-81 over Preble Road next week should prepare for potential delays.

Starting early Monday morning, that portion of I-81 will be reduced to one lane as crews begin work to replace the southbound bridge over Preble Road.

Gene Cilento with the state Department of Transportation says drivers could experience short delays.

“Motorists may experience some delays at any time, but probably in the weekday afternoon rush hour,” Cilento said. “We are not anticipating major backups, though.”

The work is expected to wrap up by Memorial Day weekend.
