Emery Guest, former Tompkins County sheriff, dies at age 70

A former county sheriff is being remembered for his time serving the community.

Emery Guest died Thursday at age 70.

Guest was Tompkins County’s sheriff from 1991 to 1998. He joined the sheriff’s department as a deputy back in 1968.

Guest retired in 1998, and was living in the Corning area during his retirement.

A service will be held this afternoon for Guest at the Hillside Alliance Church on Route 79.
