Traffic will soon be a little better in downtown Ithaca, as crews are preparing to reopen the 100 block of North Aurora Street in time for Thursday morning’s commute.

The stretch of road some refer to as “restaurant row” has been closed since a truck carrying seven cars crashed into Simeon’s restaurant on the Commons.

Chief of Staff for the City of Ithaca Kevin Sutherland says restaurants there have taken a hit since the accident.

“I have heard from some business owners that their general evening support is down,” Sutherland said. “It would be great if people came out and supported our businesses.”

Sutherland says they will open up both lanes of North Aurora Street by Thursday morning, though parking on the west side of the street will still be closed.
