Volunteers to help build Bordoni trailhead Thursday

Thursday will be a major construction day for a new tribute to fallen Corporal Christopher Bordoni.

A fitness trailhead is being constructed along the Cayuga Waterfront Trail to honor the Marine, who died months after he was injured while serving in Afghanistan.

“It’s a little curved, concrete plaza,” says Rick Manning, Program Coordinator for the Cayuga Waterfront Trail Initiative. “There will be a trail bench there. There will be nine or 10 pieces of outdoor fitness equipment.”

There will also be equipment that will allow people in wheelchairs to use the equipment.

Volunteers will be putting up the equipment starting Thursday morning. A ribbon cutting will be held for the trailhead in November.
