Town of Newfield extends gas drilling moratorium

The Newfield Town Council Thursday voted 3-2 to extend a one-year moratorium on gas drilling activities within town limits.

Voting yes were Town Supervisor Richard Driscoll, and council members Joanne James and Casey Powers. Voting no were Roy Trask and Christine Laughlin.

The council also voted 3-2 to adopt a local law establishing a one-year moratorium on the construction of commercial solid waste management facilities.
