Statewide alliance: Re-fire plants in Lansing, Dunkirk

One group that has offered their support for the re-powering of the Cayuga Power Plant is the Manufacturers Alliance of New York.

President Randy Wolken says re-firing is one of the many options to provide competitive prices for electricity. He addressed the position of some that transmission lines should be upgraded instead.

“I think we should do both,” Wolken said. “Whether you are talking commerce, jobs, economy or the environment, repowering of these plants is a win-win for New York State.”

Wolken says cost increases for power are a big factor when companies decide if they want to stay and grow in New York.
