State police adding patrols for holiday weekend

State police are stepping up traffic enforcement for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Starting Wednesday, police are adding extra patrols to look out for drivers who are texting, driving aggressively or driving while intoxicated.

Motorists should expect sobriety checkpoints.

During last year’s period, state troopers issued more than 4,000 speeding tickets, more than 1,000 distracted driving tickets and arrested 164 drivers for DWI.
