Remains found at site of Freeville fire

Human remains were found in a home that caught fire Tuesday in Freeville.

Firefighters from Cayuga Heights, Dryden, Etna, Freeville and Groton came to the fire before 3:00 Tuesday morning at 113 Mill Street.

It’s likely the remains are that of the owner of the home.

The sheriff’s department says the fire does not appear to be suspicious in nature. They have not released the name of the victim due to the active investigation.
