Ithaca Police investigating suspicious car fire

Ithaca Police are investigating a suspicious fire that occurred Thursday morning by the intersection of West State Street and South Corn Street.

Responding officers went to the scene around 8:30 am to find a Volvo station wagon on fire, which the IFD extinguished.

Police say witnesses in the area noticed a female was near the vehicle and looking into its windows, then walking away just after the fire started.

Ithaca Fire Department officials say the cause of the fire is suspicious and arson is suspected. The vehicle was a total loss.

The female is described to be Hispanic, average height and build with long dark hair.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Ithaca Police Department.
