Hanshaw Road project may extend into early summer of 2014

It could take a little longer than expected for crews to finish up the reconstruction project on Hanshaw Road.

The section of the roadway between Sapsucker Woods Road and Pleasant Grove Road is currently closed off to all through traffic.

Tompkins County Highway Director Jeff Smith says he was hoping to have more work done this fall and less for the spring, but it’s likely the completion date will be later than first anticipated due to the current plan to have the roadway reopened during the winter months.

He believes the work could continue into June of 2014.

Smith says work is likely to continue this season through mid-November, and start back up again in the early spring.
