Hanshaw Road detours begin Monday

Road closures due to the Hanshaw Road reconstruction project in the Town of Ithaca will officially start Monday August 5th.

John Lampman with the Tompkins County Highway Division says work has been taking place for a couple of weeks now, and the change in the detour start-date was a choice made by the contractor.

Work on the section of the roadway between Sapsucker Woods Road and Pleasant Grove Road is scheduled to continue through December and could be finished by mid-May next year.

A stretch of Hanshaw road will be closed to all westbound traffic seven days a week and those traveling in that direction should take Route 13 south to North Triphammer Road to access Hanshaw beyond the construction area.
