Gas prices drop for 4th of July holiday

Drivers hitting the highways for the fourth of July can expect a break at the pump.

Data from the Energy Information Administration shows the national average price for a gallon of gas has fallen 5 cents to $3.57, the third straight weekly decrease.

The average price in New York, however, is $3.74 a gallon, which is 14 cents higher than it was a year ago.

Increasing refinery inventories have been driving prices lower in most regions of the country.
