Escape plot thwarted at Elmira Correctional Facility

Quick actions by corrections officers at the Elmira Correctional Facility helped to foil a complex and detailed escape plot that was set to take place over the holiday weekend.

A spokesperson for the New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association says that multiple inmates were planning some sort of disruption inside the facility, with the ultimate goal of escaping.

The facility was put on lockdown Friday after officers were tipped off about the plan, the details of which have not been released.
