Viral video thief caught in Tompkins County

An arrest has been made in connection with several car thefts over the past several months in the Tompkins County area.

A home video captured last week showed a man breaking into a garage and car at a home on Taughannock Boulevard.

Now, Tompkins County Sheriff’s Deputies say they have arrested Jeffrey Kohman and charged him with burglary.

The thefts have been focused on the west side of Cayuga Lake, in areas of the town of Ithaca, Ulysses and Enfield.

Local authorities remind area residents to lock their doors, and clear out or hide anything valuable that you may typically leave inside your car.

Kohman was sent to Tompkins County Jail on $5,000 cash bail.
