100+ celebrate Veterans Day in DeWitt Park

Over 100 people gathered in DeWitt Park in Ithaca Monday to celebrate Veterans Day.

Retired U.S. Army Major Kevin Swab was honored at the ceremony and served as a guest speaker.

He says the nation has a different sense for its veterans nowadays because those serving in the military are all volunteers.

Swab has over 24 years of service and is currently a Senior Military Science Instructor at Elmira College with the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps Excelsior Battalion, headquartered at Cornell University.

He says appreciation for Veterans has strengthened since the global war on terror.
