    2nd Annual Spring Fest. This is your chance to see locally made and indie films by professionals, students and those with a connection to Central New York. We created this festival to help support local filmmakers and the growing CNY film industry. You’ll get the chance to meet the filmmakers and cast and crew. Ask them questions and get a close up look behinds the scenes.

    Saturday screenings from noon till midnight. Enjoy multiple films and shorts.

    Join the Cornell Food and Brand Lab for Consumer Camp 2015 on Saturday April 25th in the Warren Hall lobby, Cornell University. We are an internationally praised eating behavior research lab with a mission to find ways to help you be healthier, happier and in control of your food choices. At Consumer Camp, visitors will have the opportunity to practice their skills at portion sizing, pouring, calorie estimation, taste exciting flavors, and even participate in a study! Dr. Wansink will also give a talk about his new book: Slim by Design: Mindless Eating Solutions for Everyday Life. If you love food, this event is for you! Registration is not required but is recommended!

    Documentary Screening: Someone You Love: The HPV Epidemic

    Join the Tompkins County Health Department and the Ithaca College Department of Health Promotion & Physical Education as they co-sponsor a screening of the documentary, “Someone You Love: The HPV Epidemic.” This film follows five women with cervical cancer, their struggles, and their triumphs. The event will take place Wednesday, April 29th from 7 – 9 PM at Cinemapolis. Dr. Vivian Lorenzo, Director of the Ithaca College Hammond Health Center, will be available to take questions following the screening. This event is free and open to the public.

    Friends of the Tompkins County Public Library Spring Book Sale starts on Saturday, May 2 from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, and continues May 3 and 4, 9-11, and 16-19, from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm at 509 Esty Street in Ithaca, NY.

    Proceeds benefit the Tompkins County Public Library, Finger Lakes Library System, and organizations working for literacy in Tompkins County.
    Over 250,000 gently used items will be available, including books, DVDs, CDs, audiobooks, puzzles, games, and more. The already reasonable prices decrease over the course of the sale.

    Ithaca Community Orchestra Concert

    Ithaca Community Orchestra Concert

    The Ithaca Community Orchestra, with Music Director Dr. James Mick and
    assistant conductor Travis Carpenter, will present an afternoon of music at
    4 PM on Saturday, May 2, at the Hangar Theatre. The Ithaca Shakespeare
    Company will give presentations during the event as well. The public is
    invited to attend a reception held immediately after the concert. Donations to the ICO will be accepted at the door.

    The orchestra will perform a selection from Prokofiev’s *Romeo and Juliet*
    and the fourth march of Elgar’s *Pomp and Circumstance, *pieces which are
    directly inspired by William Shakespeare’s work. Berlioz’ “March to the
    Scaffold” from *Symphonie Fantastique *and Leopold Stokowski’s orchestral
    arrangement of Bach’s “Komm, suesser Tod” will also be played. Several
    members of the orchestra will perform as soloists in Vivaldi’s *Concerto in
    D *Minor, and Ithaca College voice professor Ivy Walz will be featured in
    an aria from Verdi’s *Othello*. This concert is made possible in part with grant support from the Community Arts Partnership. The ICO is a 501(c)(3) organization.
